Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world.  John Milton

Make what you will of this website.  To me it is a place of expression, a place to express my gratitude for life's everyday epiphanies.   It is somewhere to keep texts and pictures I’ve produced as well as the "found" things that I like (and credited where possible).  If you enjoy what you see then please visit again; if not, then it was nice of you to call in.

Oh, and the website is mostly about my time living close to the Hertford Union Canal, also known as Duckett's Cut.  There it is, at Three Colts Bridge, in the picture above, looking all golden early one June morning.  The east end of London might not be quite where you would expect a nature notes type website to be based, but this one is.  Go to the occasional diary I keep of Life on the Canal to see what I mean.

And the cute little fellow on the left?  That's a gosling.  There are all sorts of residents for you to meet, but if coots are your thing you are in the right place. If you read on there's a lot about goslings, ducks, coots, chaffinches, squirrels, fish, damselflies and poop-arses; you know what a poop-arse is don't you?

Talking of pictures, here is another of Ducketts to whet your appitite...

And another Duck(etts)

lets not get too serious shall we?

Coot babes at 6 (ish) days old - and no, I'm not about to hit one over the head with a garden cane.

Now then, have you begun to smile yet?
